Clara J. Roark, 88, of Windsor, Missouri, died Thursday morning, March 30, 2017 at the Windsor Healthcare & Rehab Center, Windsor.
She was born October 18, 1928, in Centerview, Mo., the daughter of Jesse C. Dove and Margaret J. Smethers. On December 21, 1946, she married Herbert M. Roark at the parsonage of the First Baptist Church, Windsor, and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2002.
Clara worked at the Windsor International Shoe Factory for 10 years. She then worked as a cook at the Windsor Elementary School for 14 years. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and flower gardening. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and quilting. She was a member of the Calhoun United Methodist Church, Calhoun.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Maxwell and her husband Wayne, Windsor, Mo.; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; a brother, Clarence Dove and his wife Betty, Seneca Falls, New York; a sister-in-law Grace Mowell and her husband Harper, Richmond, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Roark; a brother, Gene Dove; and 3 sisters Edna Ledford, Martha Neito, and Barbara Ann Dove, who died in infancy.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, with Pastor Margie Briggs officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family suggests contributions to the Calhoun United Methodist Church or Serenity Care Hospice in care of the funeral home.
