Leroy West, 72, of Windsor, Missouri, died Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation surrounded by his family.
He was born July 10, 1944, in Syracuse, Mo., the son of Leo West and Beulah M. (Bealer) West. He moved to Windsor with his family when he was 15 years old. He worked at the Windsor Movie Theater operating the movie projector as a young man. He then worked at the International Shoe Factory for 20 year and then for Parmelee Industries in Windsor until his retirement.
He loved fishing, hunting, and shooting pellet guns while listening to his scanner. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and sharing his unique sense of humor by telling little-known jokes.
Survivors include 5 children, Ramona Ray and her husband Jon, Republic, Mo.; Kenny West, Kansas City, Mo.; Curtis West and his wife Lynn, Windsor, Mo.; Doug West and his wife Carey, Warrensburg, Mo.; and Andy West, Sedalia, Mo.; 8 grandchildren, Brad Ray, Elysha Ray, Taylar West, Karlee West, Mason West, Cy Smith, Novalie West, and Abree West; and a great-grandson, Donovan Carll; 2 sisters, Debbie Kagarice and Carolyn Sue West, both of Butler, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo West and Beulah James.
Leroy donated his body to science so the next generation of doctors could learn from his life. Memorial services will be held at a later date. The family suggests contributions to funeral expenses and contributions may be left in care of the Hadley Funeral Home.
