Obituary of Leona Woodward
Leona Woodward, 79, of Windsor, Missouri, died Saturday morning, January 28, 2017 at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation.
She was born September 4, 1937, in Lincoln, Mo., the daughter of Henry Silas Stone and Ida Valentine Yount. On March 16, 1956, she married Lavoe Dalrymple and they were the parents of 2 children, Vicki and Matthew. On April 9, 1999, at High Point Baptist Church near Windsor, she married Leslie Leonard “Woody” Woodward and he preceded her in death on November 16, 2009.
Leona attended Edgewood rural country school near Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1955. Leona and Lavoe co-owned and operated Andy’s Used Furniture for many years in Independence, Mo. She also worked as a waitress at a Shoney’s Restaurant in Kansas City for a number of years. She helped her husband Woody on the farm in Centerview, Mo. Leona was an excellent seamstress. She loved cats and dogs and especially horses. She and Woody were members of the Holden Saddle Club.
Survivors include a son, Matthew Kent Dalrymple, Kansas City, Mo; a daughter, Vicki Lynn Massey, Raytown, Mo.; a step-son Mike Woodward, West Fork, Arkansas; a step-daughter, Anne Marie Allen, Springdale, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Creach, Windsor, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Doris Stone, Warsaw, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews, and many cousins. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Stone.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Clif Dudley officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Laurel Oak Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
