Obituary of June Vincent

June Vincent, 99, of Sedalia, Missouri, former long-time resident of Windsor, Mo., died Sunday morning, March 19, 2017, at the Sylvia G. Thompson Resident Center, Sedalia, Mo.

June was born June 13, 1917 in Polk County, Mo., the daughter of William Charlton Shuler and Emma (Burros) Shuler. On August 21, 1938 in Bolivar, Mo., she married Arlo Roe Vincent, and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2006. They were married 68 years.

June graduated from Bolivar High School and then attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Mo., before her marriage to Arlo. They moved to Windsor and opened Vincent’s Shoes, later adding clothing to their store and changing the name to Vincent’s Shoes & Clothing. June retired in 2005 after 60 years in the store. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and doing alterations. She loved traveling and playing slot machines. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Sedalia, Mo. She was a former member of the First Christian Church in Windsor.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Glennda Shumake, Navarre, FL, Dixie Coffey and husband Charles, Sedalia, MO; Brian Vincent and wife, Janet, Sedalia, MO; 5 grandchildren, Lisa Coffey Cooperider and husband Richard, Jason Vincent Coffey, Andrea Shumake True and husband Tony; Dr. Melissa Joy Shumake Manzari and husband Davide, and Taylor Vincent; 6 great-grandchildren, Andrew True, Lindsay True, Liza Cooperider, Renee Cooperider, Ava Coffey, Tyler Coffey, numerous nieces and nephews and a special niece Suzi Shuler Hampton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Kenneth Shuler, Roy Shuler, Charles Shuler, 2 sisters, Ruth Hamlin, Lois Shuler; 3 sisters-in-law, Marjorie Shuler, Mitty Shuler, Billie Jo Shuler and a brother-in-law, Olin Hamlin.

We want to thank the staff and residents of Winchester Meadows for their love and friendship and the staff of Sylvia Thompson Residence Center and Cross Roads Hospice for their care.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday morning, March 22, 2017 at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, Mo., with Dr. Chad McMullin officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 200 S. Limit, Sedalia, MO., and memorial contributions may be left at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
