Obituary of Bob Mefford

Hugh Robert “Bob” Mefford, 88, of Windsor, Missouri, died Friday evening, August 25, 2017, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation.

He was born September 19, 1928, in Climax Springs, Mo., the son of Edwin Hurley Mefford and Emma Josephine (Folsom) Mefford.  On May 27, 1960, at the American Consulate in Sapporo, Japan, he married Masako Ioka and she preceded him in death on November 7, 2008. He served in the United States Army in the Army Security Agency from 1945 to 1968. He then worked for the Post Office in Sedalia for a short time. He was a heating and cooling technician for the Central Missouri State University (now University of Central Missouri) from 1973 to 1990. Family was important to Bob and he enjoyed fishing trips when his boys were young and spending time with the grandchildren. He was a member of the Windsor VFW Post #2610 and the American Legion Post #82, where he served as Treasurer for many years.

Survivors include a son, John Mefford (Liesl), Selah, Washington; 5 grandchildren, Robbie Mefford, Anthony Mefford and Crystal Mefford, and Sean and Travis Mefford; a great-granddaughter Ayane Mefford; a brother, Herb Mefford (Karen), Windsor, Mo.; a sister-in-law; Lucille Mefford, Windsor, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Bob” Mefford in 2007; 4 brothers, Sidney Mefford, Lee Mefford, Richard Mefford and Jerry Mefford; and a nephew, Allen Lee Mefford.

Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, with Reverend Doug Hall officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
