Obituary of Peggy Dietz
Peggy Sue Dietz, 80, of Sedalia, Missouri, formerly of Calhoun, Mo., died Saturday evening September 9, 2017, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia.
She was born May 2, 1937, in Waverly, Mo., the daughter of Junior and Ruth Massey. She was adopted by Loren Martin Kruse and Meryl Sarah (Tavener) Kruse of Clinton, Mo., at 11 months of age.
In June of 1956, she married Rollin Dale Wilson who was killed in a car accident in 1957. On October 4, 1958, in Butler, Mo., she married Donald Leroy Dietz and he preceded her in death on December 29, 2009 after over 50 years of marriage.
She and Donald made their home in the Windsor area until 1972 when they moved to a farm north of Calhoun. In 1987, they moved to Calhoun to operate the Calhoun green house where she grew garden plants, flowers, and made silk flower arrangements. She then worked at the International Shoe Factory in Windsor and then Unitog, Rival and finally Schrieber’s in Clinton. After retirement, she watched her two youngest grandchildren and also took care of elderly neighbors. Peggy and Donald were the Grand Marshalls of the Calhoun Colt Show parade in 2006. She enjoyed reading romance novels, working jigsaw and sudoku puzzles, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. She was a member of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Dietz (Therese), Sedalia, Mo.; 3 daughters, Robin Bales (Jim), London, Kentucky; Rhonda Fingar (David), Columbia, Mo.; and Michelle Dietz-Strickler (Travis), Ruston, Louisiana; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a brother, Orville Massey, Waverly, Mo.; 3 brothers-in-law, Dale Dietz (Joni), Calhoun, Mo.; Dean Dietz (Joyce), Kansas City, Mo.; and David Dietz (Debbie), Overland Park, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Milligan (Don), Clemmons, North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter Susan Cooper; a brother, Loren Kruse Jr.; a grandson Jason Fingar; and a sister-in-law, Gayle Cooper.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery, Calhoun, Mo. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
