Obituary of Gene Hollenbeck
Gene Hollenbeck, 83, of Green Ridge, Missouri, died Thursday morning, December 14, 2017, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation.
He was born June 14, 1934, in Green Ridge, Mo., the son of W. F. “Tuck” Hollenbeck and Edna M. (Arnold) Hollenbeck. On March 23, 1962, he married Doris Jeanne Colyne at the Green Ridge Presbyterian Church and she survives of the home.
Gene served his country as a United States Marine. He was a life-long farmer, raising row crops and cattle for most of his life on his ½ Way Hereford Ranch. He enjoyed coaching baseball in his younger years, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and enjoyed playing cards.
In addition to his wife Doris of the home, survivors include two sons, Wesley Dean Brockman (Karen), Green Ridge, Mo., and Steven Dale Brockman (Liz), Green Ridge, Mo.; five grandchildren, Crispin Brockman, Damian Brockman, Brandon Brockman, Callie Cooper, and Abigail Brockman; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Dorothy Lee Hollenbeck, Green Ridge, Mo., and Mildred L. Sloan (Daryl), Clinton, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his 5 a.m. card-playing friends in Green Ridge.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastors Randy and Dianna Marcum officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Green Ridge Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Show-Me Christian Youth Home or the Green Ridge Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
