Charles E. North, 88, of Windsor, Missouri, died Saturday evening, September 1, 2018, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation.
He was born November 20, 1929, in Lowry City, Mo., near Talley Bend, the son of Henry Clayton North and Grace (Sherman) North. On March 4, 1950, in Clinton, Mo., he married Leta Clarice Summers and she survives of the home.
Charles graduated from Lowry City High School in 1947 where he played basketball. He worked at United Telephone and then Bendix in Kansas City for a short time. He then owned and operated an auto repair shop in Kansas City for a number of years. In 1995, he and Clarice retired to Windsor. They enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii. He also enjoyed reloading bullets, reading history books, fishing at Truman Lake, deer hunting and working on cars and tractors. He attended the Windsor United Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the NRA.
In addition to his wife Clarice, survivors include 2 sons, William Craig “Bill” North (Diana), Kansas City, Mo.; Norman Michael “Mike” North (Nancy), Palmdale, California; a daughter, Gail Lynne Echerd (Tom), Blue Springs, Mo.; 4 grandchildren, Kimberly Echerd Dilley (Brian), Nixa, Mo., Timothy Echerd (Stacey), Mission, Ks., Kelly North Baughman (Brett) Belton, Mo.; and Kaylie North Castro (Brandon), Kansas City, Mo.; 4 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Alyssa, and Emily Baughman and Austin Dilley; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norman M. North and his wife Ollie Mae; and a sister, Ruby O. Hall and her husband Carter.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Pete Hill officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Windsor United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
