Wilma McAllister

Wilma Arlene McAllister, 104, of Windsor, Missouri, died Wednesday afternoon, March 6, 2019, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation, Windsor.

She was born January 1, 1915, in rural Windsor, Mo., near Ft. Lyon, the daughter of Raymond Edgar Thomas and Clara Christine (Keck) Thomas. On March 30, 1934 in Windsor, Mo., she married James Floyd “Jim” McAllister and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2001.

Wilma graduated from Windsor High School in 1931. She worked at the International Shoe Factory in Windsor for a short time and then she worked as a cook in both the Windsor Elementary School and High School for 15 years, retiring in 1970.

Jim and Wilma were members of a neighborhood farm club. After retirement, they enjoyed many trips all over the United States, Mexico, and Canada traveling in their Airstream trailer with the Wally Byam Caravan Club. She was a long-time member of the First Christian Church, Windsor. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren fishing and going for walks on the farm. She also enjoyed quilting, cooking, playing the piano, flowers, and gardening. Wilma was honored as Windsor's Grandma during the Sesquicentennial Celebration in 2005.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Kay Corder, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and Janis Combs, Kansas City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Valerie Hill, Vanessa Butterwick, Bruce Utt, Brian Utt, Todd Clodfelter, Belinda Brown, Karen Matthews, Richard Matthews, Steven Lee, Stacy Evans, Christina Nichols, and Ann Combs; a step-grandson, Keith Corder; 30 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ethel Barnett, Tipton, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces; and great-nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Bud Utt; 3 sons-in-law, Manfred Lee, Jay Combs, and Ben Corder; a sister, Eula Elaine Summers Dulin; a granddaughter, Stefanie Christine Lee; a step-granddaughter, Regina Brooks; and a great-great-granddaughter Joselyn Leona Reeves.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev. David Mills officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Show-Me Christian Youth Home in care of the funeral home.
