Nora M. (Craig) Shillings, 95, of Windsor, Missouri, died Sunday morning, March 31, 2019, at her home in Windsor.
She was born June 17, 1923, in Climax Springs, Mo., the daughter of Alpha Jefferson Thomas and Carrie Ellen (Lain) Thomas. On July 6, 1944, in Windsor, Mo., she married Robert Earl Craig and he preceded her in death on February 15, 1989. On January 1, 1990, in Huntsville, Arkansas, she married Cecil Charles Shillings and he survives of the home.
Nora worked at the International Shoe Factory in Windsor for 43 years, retiring in 1985. Affectionately known as the “family historian,” she enjoyed sharing family stories. She led an active life and enjoyed keeping up her yard. She loved the children and grandchildren that became her family when she married Cecil. She had attended the Brandon United Methodist Church and most recently was a member at Calvary Baptist Church in Windsor.
In addition to her husband Cecil, survivors include a step-daughter, Tonya “T.J.” Wilson and her husband Kyle and a step-son, Danny Shillings, all of Pelzer, South Carolina; 3 grandchildren, Kara Lynn Thompson and her husband Derek, Austin Smith, and Dillon Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Brynliegh Thompson; 2 half-sisters, Shirley Lutjen and Judy Keele, both of Sedalia, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband Earl, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Rice; 3 half-sisters, Hazel Smith, Brooksie Swearngin, and Leewanda Jackson; and a half-brother, Ronald Thomas.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Chuck Thomas officiating and Rev. Justin Wright assisting. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Calvary Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
