Evelyn Jean Thompson, 83, of Windsor, Missouri, died Friday, August 27, 2021, at her home in Windsor. She was born June 27, 1938, in Clinton, Mo., the daughter of Don Johnson and Josephine Grace (Williams) Johnson Knight. She graduated from Calhoun High School in 1956. She married Melvin Cecil Coulter and they were the parents of Connie and Gary. She then married Junior Fletcher and they were the parents of Julie. She married Floyd Dale Thompson and he preceded her in death on March 13, 1971. Jean worked for a short time for the International Shoe Factory in Windsor. She had also worked as a secretary to Donna Schemenauer of the Missouri United States Bowling Congress (MOUSBC). She loved to bowl. She also enjoyed growing vegetables and flower gardening and had received the Yard of the Month award. Decorating for the holidays and dressing up for Halloween was one of her highlights. Making her own Halloween costumes and her grandchildren’s were one of her many talents. She enjoyed watching sports of all kinds and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. Her family loved her homemade cinnamon rolls, pies, and Christmas sugar cookies. Survivors include her three children, Connie Swisher, Windsor, Mo., Gary Coulter (Donna), Sedalia, Mo., and Julie Theis (John), Shawnee, Ks.; 6 grandchildren, Brett Swisher (Johnna), Bobbi Swisher, Amanda Asher (Tyler), Megan Guevara (Jorge), John Robert Theis, and Jake Theis; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; 3 sisters, Reta Clinkenbeard, Arizona; Alois Rogers, New Hampshire, and Fran Jensen (Neil), Alabama; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband Dale, she was preceded in death by her parents, Don Johnson and Josephine Knight, and a sister, Barbara Vass. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Roseland, Mo., with Pastor Pete Hill officiating. The family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice or the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in care of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
