Obituary of Doris Tilman
Doris Tilman, 82, of Green Ridge, Mo., passed away early Tuesday morning, June 20, 2017, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation, Windsor.
She was born March 27, 1935, in Sweet Springs, Mo., the daughter of Edwin Louis Edward Eckhoff and Clara Bertha (Lohman) Eckhoff. On May 19, 1963 in Sweet Springs, Mo., she married Albert Kenneth “Ken” Tilman, and he survives of the home.
Mrs. Tilman was the Valedictorian of the La Monte High School Class of 1953. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family real estate business and farm. Doris enjoyed being at home taking care of her family. On April 21, 1935 she was baptized and on May 1, 1949 she was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sweet Springs and was a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sedalia, Mo., where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s Group, also of Sedalia.
In addition to her husband, Ken, she is survived by a son, Carl Tilman (Aimee), Green Ridge, Mo.; a daughter, Diane Tilman, Windsor, Mo.; 4 grandchildren, Heather Reed, Nicholas Tilman, Nathaniel Tilman and Hannah Tilman, 2 great-grandsons, Bruce Reed and Kalvin Tilman; 3 step-grandchildren, Gayle Liwanag, Ayenne Liwanag and Miguel Liwanag; a brother, John W. Eckhoff, Blackwater, Mo.; 2 sisters, Shirley Gudde (Richard), La Monte, Mo., and Gladys Drunert (Larry), Warsaw, Mo; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Donna Tilman and a sister-in-law, Beth Eckhoff.
Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sedalia, Mo., with Pastor Andrew Tessone and Pastor Christopher Kellogg officiating. Burial will be in the La Monte Cemetery, La Monte, Mo. The family will receive friends before the service at the church in Sedalia from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The family will also receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
