Obituary of Ross Hampton

Ross Hampton, 79, of Windsor, Missouri, died early Sunday morning, March 18, 2018, at his home in Windsor surrounded by family.

He was born December 16, 1938, in rural Ionia, Missouri, the son of Frederick Dockery Hampton and Odes Gertrude (Ransdell) Hampton. On December 15, 1957, at the Windsor United Methodist Church, he married Paula Lee Harris and she survives of the home.

Ross was a 1957 graduate of Windsor High School. At a young age he went to work for the Marti Leghorn Farm in Windsor. He worked at the hatchery for 40 years. He finished out his working career doing home and roof repairs in the Windsor area for about 10 years before retirement. He enjoyed time with his family, fishing, gardening, woodworking, and helping others. He volunteered in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League Baseball, and the Henry County Fair. He attended the Windsor United Methodist Church. His life on earth has ended, but his love and good works will last forever.

In addition to his wife, Paula, survivors include a son, Kenneth Hampton (Cindy), Windsor, Mo.; 4 daughters, Linda Spurling (Ed), Mexico, Mo.; Melody Ash, Jacksonville, Arkansas; Jacqueline Williams, Green Ridge, Mo.; and Jennifer Netz, DeRidder, Louisiana; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Maurine Null, Katherine Burchum, Arlice Madole, Essie May Bowen; 5 brothers, Bill Hampton, Howard Hampton, Fred Hampton, Roy Dean Hampton, and Clifford Hampton; and 4 nieces.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Pete Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Manila, Mo., in care of the funeral home.
