Obituary of Vera Fisher
Vera Louise (Rose) Fisher, 89, of LaMonte, Missouri, formerly of Windsor, Mo., died Saturday morning, May 5, 2018, at her home in LaMonte.
She was born April 14, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri, one of 17 children, the daughter of Carrie Ann (Cox) Duppass and Lester Arthur Rose. On September 20, 1950, in St. Louis, Mo., she married Warren Avon Fisher. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1972.
In her early years, Vera worked as a cotton picker and was also employed at Bemis Bag Company for almost a year. Vera’s faith in Jesus Christ was an important part of her life. She enjoyed raising and caring for her son and grandchildren. If anyone had a need, she gave anything she had to meet it. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include four grandsons, Jason Fisher, LaMonte, Mo.; Michael Fisher, St. Louis, Mo.; Shaun Fisher, Clarksville, Tn.; David Fisher, Clinton, Mo.; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by one brother, Ralph Duppass, Sedalia, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Avon Fisher; a grandson Brett Hefner; and 15 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Gene Ekstrand officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor.
