Obituary of Glenna Hudson
Glenna Lee Hudson, 87, of Calhoun, Missouri, died Tuesday morning, May 8, 2018, at her home in Calhoun.
She was born February 8, 1931, in Leesville, Mo., the daughter of Virgil Lee Ashley and Myrtle Opal (Carlton) Ashley. On June 10, 1950, in Clinton, Mo., she married Robert Eugene Hudson Sr. and he preceded her in death on February 23, 1992.
She graduated from Clinton High School at the age of 16 and began working as the Clinton High School Secretary to the Principal. She then worked as a social worker in Henry County for several years and then as the secretary of the Windsor United Methodist Church, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Windsor United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Henry County Chapter NSDAR and held several local and state offices including Henry County Chapter Regent, West Central District Director from 1984-1986, State Chairman Magazine Advertising from 1986 to 1989, State Chairman Awards and Prizes from 1989-1992, State Organizing Secretary from 1992-1994, State Curator at Roslyn Heights, Boonville from 1994-1996, Vice Chair South Central Division Flag of U.S.A. from 1995-1998, State Program Chairman from 1996-1998, and State Chairman Chapter Achievement Awards from 2008-2010.
She loved her country and helped instill Patriotism in her children and grandchildren. She was an active blood drive volunteer and helped with Project Christmas Cheer in Clinton and the Calhoun Colt Show. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the ocean, and always incorporated genealogy research with her travel schedule. She also enjoyed birdwatching and wildflowers.
Survivors include a son, Robert E. Hudson Jr., Gravois Mills, Mo.; 2 daughters, Lisa Drennan (Terry), Jefferson City, Mo., and Sandra Hudson, St. Elizabeth, Mo.; a sister, Jeannie Mansfield, Calhoun, Mo.; 8 grandchildren, Robert E. Hudson III (Jennifer), Jeff Hudson (Jennifer), Stephen Howard, Kelsey Ruby (Brody), Savannah Gerloff (Marty), James Wyatt Stiles, Gracie Cook, and Cody Drennan; 5 great-grandchildren, Kyle Hudson, Courtney Hudson, Maxwell Ruby, Madison Gerloff and Grayson Gerloff; several nieces and nephews including Teresa Livingston and Karen Raithel; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marcia Merle Johnson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2018, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Pete Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery, Calhoun, Mo. Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Calhoun Colt Show and may be left in care of the funeral home.
