Obituary of Lura Hanson
Lura Hanson, 82, of Clearwater, Florida, formerly of Windsor, Missouri, died Monday, June 11, 2018, at the Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Fla.
She was born July 30, 1935, in St. Joseph, Mo., the daughter of Carl Raymond Stafford and Valeria Josephine (Meng) Stafford. On January 20, 1957, in Forest City, Mo., she married William Victor “Bill” Hanson and he preceded her in death on October 17, 2004.
Lura received her Bachelor Degree in Education in 1957 from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Mo. She taught English in Windsor for a number of years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Windsor. After moving to Florida, she attended the Calvary Baptist Church, Clearwater. She was also an active member of the former Order of Eastern Star Chapter #102, Windsor. She enjoyed playing Bridge.
Survivors include 2 sons, Victor Hanson, Quincy, Illinois, Cris Hanson, Branson, Mo., 2 daughters, Verna Hanson, Kansas City, Mo., and Renita Hanson, Clearwater, Fla.; 6 grandchildren, Will Hanson, St. Louis, Mo.; Marianne Reille, Chicago, Ill.; Victoria Hanson, St. Louis, Mo.; Olivia Hanson, Quincy, Il,; Rachel Hanson, Seattle, Washington, and Daniel Hanson, Branson, Mo.; 4 great-grandchildren, Toriana Hanson, Tanaya Strong, and Anthony Strong, Jr., all of St. Louis, Mo., and Azrael Reille, Chicago, Ill.; 2 sisters, Lillian Boyd, Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Christina Davis from Stuarts Draft, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Stafford.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Eureka, Mo. Burial will be at a later date in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Mo. The family suggests contributions to the Treatment Advocacy Center.
