Obituary of Kathy Miller
Kathy Miller, 62, of Windsor, Missouri, died Monday, November 12, 2018, as the result of a vehicle accident.
She was born October 20, 1956, in Monroe, Wisconsin, the daughter of Theodore Carl Weiss, Jr. and Judith Elaine (Walden) Weiss. On November 1, 1975, in Monroe, Wis., she married Mark Xavier Miller, whom she has preceded in death.
A life-long learner, Kathy took every opportunity to teach and learn. She home-schooled 5 of her 7 daughters and was passionate about helping others gain an education. As a military family, she had the opportunity to live in Japan and Germany and travel to many places around the world. A McNair Scholars Program recipient, Kathy worked diligently as a non-traditional student to obtain a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in political science and master’s degree in history from the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg. Her desire to see others succeed academically led her to be an instructor with State Fair Community College at the Clinton campus teaching Adult Education Literacy classes. A true Renaissance woman, she enjoyed many crafting hobbies including cross-stitch, knitting, and candle wicking. She loved music, literature, and cultivating her garden. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Clinton, Mo., and served faithfully in many auxiliaries in her Ward and Stake, touching many lives for the better. Her sense of humor was infectious, and she loved her family unconditionally. She was highly intuitive and devoted her life to caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Mark, survivors include 7 daughters, Deone Hansen (Daniel), Windsor, Mo.; Katrina Mitchell, Windsor, Mo.; Jennifer Stephens (Brian), Cincinnati, Ohio; Tara Miller, Shawnee, Kansas; Heather McCoy (LeaRoy), Shawnee, Ks.; Rachael Ash (Lance), Windsor, Mo.; and Tiffany Miller, Windsor, Mo.; 17 grandchildren, Christopher Hansen, Saryna Hansen, Alex Hansen, Robbie Mitchell, Kayla Mitchell, Michael “Mikey” Mitchell, Kylee Mitchell, Calvin Stephens, Kathy Stephens, Tyler McCoy, Abigail McCoy, Liam McCoy, Garret Ash, Piper Ash, Gideon Ash, Gabriel Ash, and Paige Ash; her mother, Judy Walden, Monroe, Wis.; 2 sisters, Kristine Opatz, Kenosha, Wis.; Sherrin Weiss, Ogden, Utah; a brother, Timothy Weiss, Monroe, Wis.; and 4 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.
A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018, at the at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Clinton, Mo. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. before the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
