Obituary of Betty Minshall

Betty Minshall, 92, of Windsor, Missouri, died Sunday evening, February 24, 2019 at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Windsor.

She was born June 2, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Elmer Earnest Myler and Mildred May (Forbes) Myler. On June 26, 1946, in Olathe, Kansas, she married Edward Joseph Minshall and he preceded her in death on November 13, 2011.

Betty worked at the Kansas City munitions plant after high school and then obtained a degree in Accounting from Rockhurst College in Kansas City. She then worked for several accountants in the Kansas City area before starting Minshall Bookkeeping which she owned and operated for over 30 years. After moving to the Windsor area, she and her husband were caretakers at Windsor Farrington Park for several years in the early 1990s. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association and was very active in the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Garden City, Mo. She enjoyed sewing, plastic canvas needlework, crocheting, canning garden vegetables that Edward grew, and making her special candies at Christmastime. She also enjoyed word games including puzzles, word searches and the Wheel of Fortune television show.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Terry Head, Windsor, Mo., and Kathleen Cawvey, Sedalia, Mo.; a son, James “Jim” Minshall and his wife Kathy, East Linn, Mo.; 5 grandchildren, Shana Fox, Becky Weisel, Jaime Bohannon, J.D. Head, and Brian Minshall; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gracie Myler, Harrisonville, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her husband Edward, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jim Head; a sister Marvel Livingston and her husband Roy; and a brother, John Myler.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial will take place at a later date in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo. The family suggests contributions to the Windsor Farrington Park in care of the funeral home.
