Obituary of Gordon Weatherby
Gordon Weatherby, 70, of rural Sedalia, Missouri, died Monday, March 25, 2019, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born October 17, 1948, in Carrollton, Mo., the son of Arthur Roy “Bud” Weatherby and Opal Belle (Pottorff) Weatherby.
Gordon owned and operated Weatherby Construction for a number of years. He built homes and did a variety carpentry work until retirement in 2008. He then worked as a delivery driver for State Beauty Supply until January, 2019. He loved the outdoors and farm life. Bailing hay, tending his horses, enjoying the birds and working on his tractors were things he enjoyed. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were special to him.
Survivors include his companion Carrie Lysell, Sedalia, Mo.; 2 daughters, Sheila Rae Anstine (Kenneth), Windsor, Mo.; Danette Martinez (Joe), Springfield, Mo.; 5 sons, Rex Weatherby, Lincoln, Mo.; Roy Weatherby (Sarah), Lincoln, Mo.; Reece Weatherby (Kayla), Sedalia, Mo.; Ryder Weatherby (Amanda), Windsor, Mo.; and Rowdy Weatherby, Lincoln, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, Terry Weatherby, Warrensburg, Mo.; a sister, Nancy Winn, Windsor, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carrie Lee Ann Weatherby; a grandson, Luke Hunter Weatherby; a brother, Paul Weatherby; and a niece, Sondra Mullen.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019, at the Assembly of God of Windsor, with Rev. Gene Ekstrand officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Private family burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, rural Lincoln, Mo. The family suggests contributions to Whiskey Ridge Rescue for horses in Green Ridge, Mo., in care of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
