Obituary of Bobby Lee Hankins
Bobby Lee “Junk Yard Bob” Hankins, 84, of La Monte, Mo., formerly of Windsor, Mo., died Friday morning, August 23, 2019, at his home.
He was born November 3, 1934, in Benton County, Mo., the son of William Edward Hankins and Dimple Faye (McMillian) Hankins. On March 27, 1954, also in Benton County, he married Emogene Knox and she preceded him in death on February 2, 2012.
Bob ran B&J Enterprises, more commonly known as “Bob’s Salvage,” in Windsor for 40 years, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed Saturday morning cartoons with the grandchildren and also liked to watch the Royals and Braves Major League Baseball teams.
Survivors include 2 sons, Bobby Lee Hankins (Linda), Cumberland Gap, Mo.; and Ronnie Franklin Hankins, Windsor, Mo.; a daughter, Rhonda Fern "Susie" Gilbert (Tim Burnworth), LaMonte, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Jack Knox (Debbie), Edwards, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a great-great-grandson; and a great-great-grandchild on the way; a brother, Boyce Hankins (Leota), Harrison, Arkansas; a sister, Belva Hinchey (Denny), Kansas City, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Emogene, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Faye Hankins, 3 sisters, Bonnie McDaniel, Betty Lambeth, and Blondina Campbell, and an infant niece.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2019, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2019, at Mossy Cemetery, Edwards, Mo. The family suggests contributions to Mossy Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
