Obituary of Maxine Stiles
Maxine Stiles, 97, of Raytown, Missouri, died Tuesday morning, November 12, 2019, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.
She was born December 30, 1921, the daughter of Aaron Francis Howe and Flora Catherine (Slusher) Howe on a farm near Knob Noster, Mo., the youngest of nine children. On June 28, 1942, in Polo, Mo., she married Kenneth Wayne Stiles and he preceded her in death on August 10, 2001.
Maxine worked as a secretary for various companies in the Kansas City area including Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. She was a member of Kansas City Baptist Temple. She and Kenneth were long-time members of the Kansas City Card Club. Gardening, tending her flowers, and working crossword puzzles were things she enjoyed.
Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a special friend and neighbor, Bob Miller. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 6 sisters, Fern Allen, Myrl Corson, Etta Mae Kosmiski, Louise Sproat, Mildred Rank, and Helen Gibbs; and 2 brothers, Otis Howe and Delmar Howe.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2019, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, with Pastor Dan Wooten officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family suggest contributions to the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor.
