Obituary of Harold L. Gehrig
Harold Lee Gehrig, 93, of Warsaw, Mo., died early Monday morning, November 25, 2019, at the Missouri Veterans Home, Warrensburg, Mo.
He was born September 9, 1926, in Windsor, Mo., the son of Herbert Raymond Gehrig and Ilva (Schrum) Gehrig. Harold graduated from Windsor High School in 1944.
He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II from 1945 to 1946 receiving an Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Windsor, and was baptized in April, 1950. Learning the plumbing trade from his Granddad, George Gehrig, Harold worked for most of his life as a self-employed plumber. He enjoyed fishing and gained many friendships through competitive crappie fishing and also playing pool.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Diane Hamilton (Steve), Gillette, Wyoming, and Dixie Lane (George), Excelsior Springs, Mo.; 2 grandsons, Marcus Taylor (Jennifer), El Dorado Hills, California, and Curt Lane (Amy), Kansas City, Mo.; and 6 great-grandchildren, Chloe and Ryland Taylor and Tyler, Sophie, Adria, and Kadence Lane. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Robert E. Gehrig.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, with Pastor Pete Hill officiating. The family suggest contributions to Wounded Warriors in care of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
