Obituary of Wayne Greenough

Wayne A. Greenough, 85, of Windsor, Missouri died early Sunday morning February 2, 2020, at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence. He was born July 16, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Allan Edward Greenough and Lillian Bernice (Williams) Greenough. On December 21, 1956, in Wichita, Kansas, he married Marilyn Sue Riley and she survives of the home. Wayne grew up in Chicago and was a life-long avid fan of all Chicago sports, especially the Cubs and Bears. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953 and served 22 years as a wastewater civil engineer. After retirement he continued to work in civil service for 17 years, first at Rickenbacker Air Force Base in Ohio and then at Whiteman Air Force Base. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post 1000. He loved to go to the casinos and enjoyed hosting annual family picnics for many years, which brought friends and family from all over the country to Windsor. In addition to his wife Marilyn, survivors include 3 daughters, Susan Humphries (Danny), Texas; Joni LaRoche (Richard), Virginia; and Karen Kramer (Mike), Windsor, Mo.; a son, Steve Greenough (Colleen), Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Todd Humphries, Sommer Wells, Derek LaRoche, Craig LaRoche, Jennifer White, Kristen Hesse, Justin White, Kayleigh Greenough, Karri Greenough, Brett Greenough, Wade Hauser, and Clay Hauser; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Dawn Magrini, Wisconsin; and Gloria Froula, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Greenough. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2020, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Chaplin Joshua King officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donate to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and vote for Trump.
