Obituary of Jerry Burford
Jerry A. Burford, 67, of rural Windsor, Missouri, died Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Saint Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. He was born January 16, 1953, in Warrensburg, Mo., the son of James Mac Burford and Helen Adelaide (Henderson) Burford. On January 26, 1974 in Leeton, Mo., he married Sandra Jane Hayhurst and she survives of the home. Jerry worked at the water treatment plant at Whiteman Air Force Base for many years. After retirement, cattle ranching became his full-time occupation, along with buying and selling horses. Bull riding and team roping during his younger rodeo days gave way to trail rides with friends in later years. He was a member of the former WACO organization in Windsor and was also a member of the Henry County Cattlemen’s Association. Survivors include his wife Sandra; a son, Jeff Burford, Windsor, Mo.; a daughter, Shawna O'Neal (Tim), Portland Oregon; a granddaughter, Bell O'Neal, a sister-in-law, Anita Tatum (David), Trenton, Mo.; and 4 nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Lucille (LaFavor) Burford, and several aunts and uncles. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2020, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Justin Wright leading. A reception will follow until 4 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in the Mineral Creek Cemetery, Leeton, Mo. The family suggests contributions to either the Mineral Creek Historical Society of Leeton or the Windsor Historical Society in care of the funeral home.
