Obituary of Steve Nance
Steve Nance, 73, of Windsor, Missouri, formerly of Kansas City, Kansas, died Friday, February 28, 2020, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Windsor. He was born August 14, 1946, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Milo David Nance and Barbara Lee (Yelton) Nance. In the mid 1960’s he married Eileen (Olson) Nance and she preceded him in death. He was a 1964 graduate of Rosedale High School in Kansas City, Ks. He served 4 years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked as a firefighter in Johnson County, Ks., for 10 years and was also a private pilot. A talented musician and trumpeter, Steve worked playing music, especially jazz and Dixieland jazz. He loved rocks from a young age, especially geodes. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Windsor American Legion Post 82. In 2019, Steve traveled to Washington DC with the Veterans Honor Flight program. Survivors include a sister, Nancy Barkofske (Mike), Windsor, Mo; a brother, Michael Nance, Kansas City, Ks.; 2 nieces, Tracy and Ann and a nephew, Timothy; several great-nieces and great-nephews including Bradley, Quintin, and Zoe; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. No services are planned at this time. Interment will be at a future date in the Welda Cemetery, Welda, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
