Brenda M. Ray, 62, of Leeton, Mo., died late Wednesday evening, July 8, 2020, at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Mo. Brenda was born the daughter of Harvey Earl Landes and Darlene Marie (Green) Landes on August 13, 1957 in Clinton, MO. On May 11, 1975, she married the love of her life, Larry Boyd Ray, in Windsor, MO. The couple recently celebrated 45 years of marriage together. He survives her in their home. Brenda graduated from Windsor High School and went on to work in several administrative positions at Central Missouri State University (now UCM) in Warrensburg, MO. She also worked at the Bank of Leeton and owned a dog grooming business for a period of time. She was a former member of the Leeton Fair Board. Brenda enjoyed traveling and had a unique knack for finding unusual shops and treasures. She was very knowledgeable about flowers and with being raised on a farm, she developed a love for gardening. Brenda also had an immense love for animals. She could always be found taking care of any dog, cat, bird, chicken, or animal that she was around. She was such a nurturing and caring women. Brenda was always willing to lend a listening ear and a joyful smile to anyone who needed it. Many will remember her by her contagious laugh but most will remember her as a devoted wife, loving mother, supportive grandmother, and thoughtful friend. In addition to her husband Larry, survivors include 2 daughters, Christina Marie Asher and husband Erick, Smithton, MO., and Michelle Lea Nelson, Leeton, MO.; 4 granddaughters, Kaylee Morgan Asher, Tess Leeann Asher, Jessica Maline Nelson, and Alli Nicole Nelson; a brother, James Smith, Clinton, MO.; 2 sisters, Georgia Faye Underwood, Leeton, MO., and Donna; her mother-in-law, Irene Ray, Windsor, MO.; a brother-in-law, Ron Ray, Windsor, MO.; a sister-in-law, Carla Campbell, Windsor, MO.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her father when she was 3 years old; her mother and step-father, Ray Smith, who raised her; her father-in-law, Walter Ray; and a brother, Daniel Smith. Due to Covid-19, no services are planned at this time. A memorial fund has been established for Brenda and contributions may be left in care of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
