Obituary of Junior Dale "Jack" Thomas

Junior Dale “Jack” Thomas, 96, of Clinton, Mo., died early Thursday morning, October 29, 2020, at Truman Lake Manor, Lowry City, Mo. He was born November 23, 1923, in Blairstown, Mo., the son of Reuben Thomas and Velma (Gregory) Thomas. On April 5, 1947, he married Leona May Stoneking and she preceded him in death on December 5, 1979. On October 11, 1980, he married Elizabeth Christine Smith in Clinton, Mo., and she preceded him in death in September 2007. Jack served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a foreman in the Engineering Department of US Gypsum Paper Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed restoring Mustangs, fixing lawn mowers, and fishing. He was a life-member of VFW Post 1894 in Clinton and the American Legion. Survivors include three children, Dale E. Thomas (Fran), Independence, Mo., Linda F. Venable, Clinton, Mo., and J. Stephen Thomas (Caralee), Independence, Mo.; 6 grandchildren, Randy Thomas, Christinia Howerton, Michele Butler, Danny Venable, Stephanie Thomas, and Brian Thomas; 2 step-grandchildren, Chance Duensing and Carlye Houk; 10 great-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-daugther, Connie Duensing; and a half-brother, Robert Thornsburg. Graveside memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2020, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. Military Honors will be observed. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family suggests contributions to Clinton VFW Post #1894 and may be left in care of the funeral home.
