Obituary of William "Mike" Wharton
William Michael “Mike” Wharton, 66, of Calhoun, Missouri, died Monday afternoon, November 9, 2020, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation. He was born November 16, 1953, in Sunflower, near Bonner Springs, Kansas, the son of William Franklin “Bill” Wharton and Carolyn Delois (Rhoads) Wharton. Mike grew up in Peculiar, Mo., and played football in high school. He was a welder and had worked at American Power & Process in Clinton for a number of years. He loved hunting and fishing and walking in the countryside collecting arrowheads. He was a dog lover and was especially fond of his faithful companion, “Little Dog.” Survivors include his adopted daughter, Mistie Wharton, Leeton, Mo.; a step-son, Duane McConville, Calhoun, Mo.; 2 grandchildren, Aerabella Colbert and Liam Perry; 2 sisters, Vicky Meyer, Chilhowee, Mo., and Teresa Gattenby, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and 2 nieces and 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 16, 2020, at the Carpenter Cemetery, Chilhowee, Mo., with Pastor Chris Emerson officiating. Family and friends may stop in and pay their respects Monday, November 16 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
