Obituary of Helen Mothersbaugh

Helen Mothersbaugh, 92, of Windsor, Missouri, died early Thursday morning, November 19, 2020, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation. She was born October 31, 1928, in Benton County, Mo., near Lincoln, the daughter of Bryan Bland “B.B.” Hughes and Mary Rosalyn (Acker) Hughes. On June 29, 1946, in Olathe, Kansas, she married Leonard Eugene Mothersbaugh. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1997. Helen attended country school and graduated from Lincoln High School. She was a homemaker and worked at the International Shoe Factory in Windsor for a short time. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling friendships and trips, including state bowling tournaments. She also enjoyed flower gardening and fishing. She enjoyed baking and her cream and meringue pies were loved by family and friends. She loved to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports and went on many trips with the family to tournaments. She was a member of TOPS, the American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered at the Windsor Senior Center. She was a long-time member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Windsor. Survivors include a son, Max Mothersbaugh (Teresa), Unionville, Mo.; 6 grandchildren, Traci Hurley (Ched), Marty Mothersbaugh (Katie Deterding), Lory Passley (Drew), Michael Mothersbaugh (Cimberlee), Jeremie Mothersbaugh (Stacy Sherry), and Christi Washington (Brian); 12 great-grandchildren, Scotlin Hurley (Walker Thomas), McKinley Hurley, Mykah Hurley, Logan Mothersbaugh, Dylan Mothersbaugh, Ayden Deterding, Kennedy Passley, Kylie Passley, Amber Hall (Christopher), Scott Burgess (Kristina McFarland), Heather Maupin (Timmy), and Brian Washington Jr.; 6 great-great- grandchildren, Bentlee Thomas, Kember, C.J. and Izzy Hall, Leon and Greyson Maupin, and another on the way; a brother-in-law, Willis Mothersbaugh (Dixie); a sister-in-law, Shirley Mothersbaugh; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her husband Leonard, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael; a brother, Denton Hughes; a sister Mary Lee Swearngin; and numerous extended family and dear friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2020, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Justin Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Masks are requested. The family suggests contributions to the Laurel Oak Cemetery and may be left in care of the funeral home.
