Obituary of Carol Jane (Phifer) Rodewald

Carol Jane (Phifer) Rodewald, 70, of Windsor, Missouri, died late Monday evening, May 24, 2021, at Centerpointe Medical Center, Independence, Mo. She was born June 18, 1950, in Warsaw, Missouri, shortly after which she was adopted by her loving parents, Leonard Phifer and Alma Lee (Kerr) Phifer. She was married to Earl E. Miller and Daniel M. Beyer, both of whom preceded her in death. On November 17, 1986, in Houstonia, Mo., she married Larry E. Rodewald, Sr. who died December 3, 2005. Jane attended Windsor Public Schools, graduating in 1968 from Windsor High School. She completed additional education at State Fair Community College. She was a stay-home mom for several years. Later she worked at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Windsor and as the director of the Fort Scott Museum, Fort Scott, KS. Jane was an avid reader and had a life-long passion for genealogy and history, especially history of the Civil War. She and Larry Rodewald were founding members of the Windsor Historical Society in 1998. They were active in helping to renovate what became the Windsor Historical Museum at 104 S. Franklin St., Windsor. Jane did the research for much of Windsor’s Sesquicentennial program booklet in 2005, and she wrote the weekly “Reviewing the Past” column for the Windsor Review for several years until her health prevented her from continuing in that role. She was a member of the Windsor United Methodist Church from an early age and until 2005 when she joined Brandon United Methodist Church where she served as the pianist for several years. Survivors include a daughter, Denise Mayes, Sedalia, Mo.; 3 sons, Eric Miller, Clinton, Mo., Daniel Beyer (fiancé Danielle Brown), Knob Noster, Mo., and Michael Beyer (Lorie), Beloit, Kansas; 3 step-children, Larry, John and Diane; 13 grandchildren, Frederick, Christopher, Ronnie, Dylon, Leslie, Darion, Dawson, Delaney, Omaha, Season, Caleb, Samantha, Jessica, Lacey, Thomas, Makenzie, Konnor, Lillian, Jayden, Greyson, Kiely, and Brooklyn; and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Earl Miller Jr.; 2 daughters, Diana Motley and Deborah Miller; and 2 step-daughters, Julie Rodewald and Teresa Rodewald; and an infant sister, Lois Ann Phifer. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Jamie Hargett officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, at a later date.
