Obituary of James E. Ridenour

James E. Ridenour, 87, of Windsor, Missouri, died late Thursday evening, June 10, 2021, at his home near Windsor. He was born July 4, 1933, in Green Ridge, Mo., the son of Leslie Clay Ridenour and Mildred Elizabeth (Mullins) Ridenour. He graduated from Green Ridge High School in 1951 and served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. On August 18, 1956, he married Mary Elizabeth (Knatcal) Ridenour at the First Baptist Church, Windsor, and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2020. James and Mary both worked at the International Shoe Factory in Windsor for almost 30 years. Days began with farm chores and milking cows and ended with more chores in the evening until the work was done. James loved life on the farm and family gatherings, especially the annual July 3rd celebrations for his birthday. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Windsor. Survivors include 4 children, James Lee Ridenour, Windsor, Mo., Amy Lou Ewing, Trenton, Mo., Paul Duane Ridenour (Shelley), Windsor, Mo., and Barbara Ann Blaylock, Windsor, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Patrick Ridenour, Brianna Ridenour, Jessica Crowder (Jason), Christan Logan, Mike Adams (Deanna), Hannah Galloway (Robert), Jaci Millam (Chad), Chris Ridenour (Liz), Nicole Ridenour, Heather Blaylock (Donovan), Megan Bentley (Josh), and Brandon Ward; 29 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Mae Kruse, Windsor, Mo.; 2 half-brothers, Leslie Ridenour and John Ridenour; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his wife Mary, he was preceded in death by his father Leslie; his mother Mildred Riley Neffendorf; his step-father who raised him, Charles Riley Sr.; a brother in infancy, Quincy Clay Ridenour; a half-brother, Charles Riley Jr.; and 2 half-sisters, Sharon Spruce and Martha Pearl Brown. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Mike Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery, Manila, Mo. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association or the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in care of the funeral home.
