Obituary of James "Buddy" Claycomb
James “Buddy” Claycomb, 84, of Windsor, Missouri, died Sunday morning, June 27, 2021, at the Holden Manor Care Center, Holden, Mo. He was born October 22, 1936, in Windsor, Mo., the son of Jewell Levi Claycomb and Doris (Knoles) Claycomb. On August 11, 1955, he married Myrtle Ruth Ransdell in Windsor, Mo., and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Buddy worked as a truck driver for many years. He ended his career with Opies Transport, logging over 1,000,000 miles and earning the Employee of the Year award in 1996. He enjoyed classic country and bluegrass music and trips to music shows in the Ozarks. Buddy and Myrtle travelled all over the United States and enjoyed taking their nieces and nephews on day trips. He loved his faithful companion, Scottie. Survivors include a sister, Carolyn Baker; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Myrtle, he was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Jewell Levi Claycomb Jr., Donald Claycomb and Larry Claycomb; a sister, Jean Durrill; and a nephew, David Baker. Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2021, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, with Rev. Bill Douglas officiating. Military honors will be observed. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. A memorial has been established for funeral expenses and contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.
