Obituary of Lenda Tolley

Please share a memory of Lenda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lenda Sue Tolley, 77, of rural Windsor, Missouri, died Thursday evening, July 22, 2021, at Western Missouri Medical Center, Warrensburg, Mo. She was born August 19, 1943, in Windsor, Mo., the daughter of Ray Ulysses Swisher and Vernie Agness (Coffey) Swisher. On June 22, 1961, she married Junior Wayne “J.W.” Tolley at the First Christian Church in Windsor. They were a special couple and enjoyed nearly 48 years together. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2009. Lenda worked at the International Shoe Factory in Windsor and had also worked for Sears, Wilson Foods in Marshall, and Missouri Pressed metals in Sedalia. She enjoyed being outside on the farm. Her garden and cattle were her pride and joy after her family. She enjoyed fishing, raking hay, and mowing her lawn. She was a good cook and the guys all looked forward to the big pot of chili she made sure she had ready for them after the morning hunt on opening day of deer season. She was a member of the Brandon United Methodist Church and loved the Lord and her family above all else. She proudly went to as many of her grandchildren's events, concerts, and games as she was able. She took every opportunity to be a part of their lives and learn about their interests. She loved her family unconditionally. When you walked into her house you felt welcomed; when leaving it was always preceded with a hug, kiss and an "I love you, come back soon." She was quick with a smile and was a gentle soul who touched the hearts of all she met. Survivors include a son, Steve Tolley (Birdy), Windsor, Mo.; a daughter Shelly Charron (Paul), Clinton, Mo.; 6 grandchildren, Amanda Thomas (Lee McQueen), Johnny McQuerry, Jeremiah McQuerry, Caleb Charron, Alex Charron, and Abby Charron; 10 great-grandchildren, Sasha, Kyle, Hailey, Savanah, Carlie, Maddie, Josiah, Isabel, Sammy and Carter; 2 sisters, Nancy Burkhart (Bill), Warrensburg, Mo., and Kathy Mankini (Gene), Windsor, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Doris Warren, Fowler, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, David Hindes, a granddaughter Angela Hindes, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Binder. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Viola Rhoads officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, with Pastor Viola Rhoads officiating. The family will receive friends before the service on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
