Please share a memory of Ailene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ailene Ballenger, 99, of Windsor, Missouri, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday evening, August 10, 2021, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation, Windsor, Mo. She was born at home in Sweet Springs, Mo., on February 8, 1922, the daughter of George Roy Wright and Mattie (Flowers) Wright. On June 19, 1942, she married the love of her life, Theodore “Ted” Henry Ballenger, who preceded her in death on December 15, 1988. To this union 3 sons were born, Theodore “Ted” Jr., Glenn, and Doug. During World War II, as a young mother with an infant son, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to be with her husband who was stationed as a guard at the Army’s prisoner of war camp. Ted and Ailene resided for many years in Sweet Springs where Ailene worked at the shoe factory. Later they moved to Windsor. Ailene continued to work at the shoe factory there until her retirement. After retiring she worked at Grain Belt Hatchery owned by her son Glenn and his wife Pat. Ailene’s greatest joy was her family. She kept busy praying for each and every member. She was well known for her pies. A family get-together was not complete unless she brought a couple of her famous pies. She always made rhubarb for her brother Dean and lemon for her niece Alice. Ailene was an active member of her church. For many years she attended and supported Brandon United Methodist Church and later transferred to the Windsor United Methodist Church. Survivors include 3 sons, Ted Jr. (Sandy), Jefferson City, Mo.; Glenn (Pat) of Belton, Mo.; and Doug of Windsor; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Ted, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother C. Dean Wright, a sister Anna Nadine Wright in infancy, and a sister Winifred Lynch. Ailene was a much-loved mother and grandmother who left a legacy of love and faith for her family. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family requests masks be worn during the visitation. The family suggests contributions to the Windsor United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
