Obituary of Billy Joe Crawford

Billy Joe Crawford, 79, of Windsor, Missouri, died Saturday morning September 25, 2021, at his home in Windsor. He was born May 4, 1942, in Canadian, Texas, the son of Woodrow Wilson Crawford and Mettie May (Graham) Crawford. He grew up on a farm in Texas and then served 17 years in the United States Army, retiring in 1988. In 1978, he married Roseanna and they were the parents of Daniel, Randy, Sarena, Tina, and Beth. He then started a second career as a cross-country truck driver. He eventually purchased his own truck and logged over two million accident-free miles before retiring again in 2004. He was a faithful member of the Brandon United Methodist Church since 2011. He enjoyed the friendships he made at the Windsor Senior Center, especially his Rummikub buddies, and served on the Windsor Senior Center Services Board. He was a hard and dedicated worker who loved country music, watching reality television shows about truck driving, going out to eat, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs. He will be missed by his family, many friends, and his faithful dachshund companion “Daisy.” Survivors include 4 children, Daniel Crawford (Tammy), Windsor, Mo., Randy Crawford, Grand Junction, Colorado, Sarena Crawford, Grand Junction, Co., and Beth Crawford, Palisade, Co.; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; and his caregiver Darlene Irvin. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tina Jean; and a grandson, Brandon Robert Crawford. A visitation to celebrate Billy Joe’s life will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Military Honors will be observed at 11:00 a.m. A memorial has been established for funeral expenses and contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.
