Obituary of William J. "Bill" Hamilton Sr.

William J. “Bill” Hamilton Sr., 80, of Windsor, Missouri, died early Sunday morning, November 7, 2021, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City. He was born February 8, 1941, in Independence, Mo., the son of William Lawrence and Goldie Hamilton. On June 30, 1962, he married Peggy Joyce DeBoever in Miami, Oklahoma and she survives of the home. He proudly served in the United States Marines from 1959 to 1962. He was a driver for Yellow Freight and helped area farmers. He then worked at the MFA Plant Foods Bulk Plant for several years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was very proud of his vegetable and flower gardens. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, rural Windsor. In addition to his wife Peggy, survivors include 4 children, Bill Hamilton (Carla), Windsor, Mo.; Teresa Whiteley (Michael), Watford City, North Dakota; Deborah Templeton (Danny), Ionia, Mo.; and Larry Hamilton (Darla), Windsor, Mo.; 14 Grandchildren, Rachel Goosen (Travis), Ryan Hamilton (Michelle), Robby Whiteley (Amanda), Tricia Lee (Austin), Laura Whiteley, Mikayla Whiteley, Amanda Jones (John), Brittany Beeman (Drew), Elissa Yates (Brenton), Trent Templeton (Kelsey), Danyelle Cowen (John), Jodie Hamilton (fiancé Tyler Rodgers), Colin Hamilton (significant other Erin Bonner), and Corie Hamilton; 14 great-grandchildren, Ember Goosen, Callie Hamilton, Brooklyn, Blayke, and Briggs Lee, Raelynn and Emalee Whiteley, Logan and Lance Beeman, Colton Yates, Kora and Rhett Cowen, Allie and Laraina Templeton, and a great-grandchild on the way; 2 brothers, Leroy Walker (Armolene) and Larry Darnell; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and good friend and caregiver, Melinda "Red" (Himes) Coker. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Billy Walker and Samuel Walker; and 3 sisters, Shirley Combs, Susan Lyon, and Loretta “Cookie” Fletcher. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Gordon Hibbard officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, and military honors will be observed. The family will receive friends before the service on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the funeral home.
