Obituary of Jerry King

Jerry King, 81, of Windsor, Missouri, formerly of Leeton, Mo., died Tuesday afternoon, November 23, 2021, at his home in Windsor. He was born July 26, 1940, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Vernon Norman King and Ernestine Ann (Wales) King. On May 1, 1962, he married Betty Jo Clear in Warrensburg, Mo., and she preceded him in death on August 6, 2005. Jerry worked at the Warrensburg shoe factory and had also worked at the Leeton Elevator. As a salesman, he had sold auto parts, tractor implements and, most recently, he sold tires at Jim’s Tire Service in Sedalia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker and going to the coffee shop. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Snorgrass (Ed), Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Ernie King (Angie), Warrensburg, Mo.; a daughter, Cindy Hopkins, Harrisonville, Mo.; 8 grandchildren, Mandy Barrett, Joanna Taylor, Justice King, Angel Haupt, Josh King, Jake Burns, Brandon Sapp, Samantha Sapp, Jerrold King, III, and Bobby King; and numerous great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gary “Butch” King (Sharon), Leeton, Mo., and Joe King (Sarah), LaMonte, Mo.; 2 sisters, Janet Conrad, The Colony, Texas, and Julia Davis, Sedalia, Mo.; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins. In addition to his wife Betty, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianna McBaine; a son, J.R. King; a grandson, Derrick Harris; a brother, Jim King; and 3 sisters, Joanne Hobusch, Joyce Brookshire, and June Reno. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Vernon Leighty officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Mineral Creek Cemetery, Leeton. The family suggests contributions to the Mineral Creek Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
