Obituary of David L. Warner

David L. Warner, 81, of Windsor, Missouri, died Monday afternoon, December 6, 2021, at Saint Luke’s East Hospital, Lee’s Summit, Mo. He was born December 22, 1939, on the family farm near Clinton the son of Bert Warner and Bessie Rena (Huey) Warner. On June 25, 1961, he married Patricia Arey at the First Christian Church in Windsor and she survives of the home. They enjoyed over 60 years of marriage. David graduated from Windsor High School in 1958. He immediately started work as a carryout at the BiLo grocery store in downtown Windsor. He then worked for Gerbes at the store in Windsor on South Main and then at the Camdenton location. When the Windsor location became a Krogers, David and his family came back to their Windsor roots, and he became Assistant Manager. Another change in ownership to Harold’s Supermarket brought a promotion to Manager and he finished out his 45-year career in the grocery industry, retiring in 2004. David was a member of the former Jaycees organization, serving two years as President, the Windsor Council for Community Betterment, and enjoyed league bowling. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a Deacon and taught Jr. High and High School boys Sunday School for several years. Retirement allowed David to enjoy nature doing things he enjoyed like fishing and mushroom hunting. In addition to his wife Pat, survivors include a daughter, Julie Heavrin (Bo Hessee) of Springfield, Mo.; a son, Matt Warner (Penni) of Holden Missouri; a son-in-law, Jim Allen (Kyle); 6 grandchildren, Danielle Heavrin, Emily Heavrin, Marybeth Warner, Weston Warner, Charlie Warner, and Everett Warner; a great-grandson, Joey Mahan; a sister, Roberta Squires, Belton, Mo.; and several extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Laura Allen; and a brother Robert Wesley in infancy. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Mike Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the First Baptist Church, Windsor.
