Obituary of Judy Barber

Judy Barber, 97, of Windsor, Missouri, died late Wednesday evening, December 15, 2021, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Windsor. She was born October 30, 1924, in Leeton, Mo., the daughter of Floyd Eugene Fewel and Miriam Dearing “Dee” (Reynolds) Fewel. On January 23, 1946, she married Harry Parks “Punk” Barber at the Leeton Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2014. Judy graduated from Leeton High School and attended Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg and was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha. She worked as a stewardess for TWA for a short time before coming back to her Leeton roots. She enjoyed life on the farm with Punk. She enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time cooking in the kitchen. She greatly enjoyed hosting dinner parties and gatherings with family and friends. Turning strangers into friends, Judy liked to visit and get to know people. She could sing and played the piano by ear. She was a member of the DAR Warrensburg Chapter and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a long-time member of the Windsor United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Kent Barber (Lainey), Lee’s Summit, Mo.; a daughter, Kay Parris (Mike), Windsor, Mo.; 3 grandchildren, David Taylor (Tracy), Jill Wiese (Gary), and John Barber (Sarah); great-grandchildren Olivia, Bennett and Conner Taylor and Cooper and Blake Wiese; a sister, Mary Fran Thompson, La Jolla, California; and several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. In addition to her husband Punk, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Eugene “Bob” Fewel. Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Pete Hill officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, at a later date. The family suggests contributions to the Mineral Creek Historical Society of Leeton in care of the funeral home.
