Obituary of Barbara Young

Barbara Young, 72, of Sedalia, Missouri, died Wednesday evening, January 5, 2022, at her home in Sedalia. She was born March 5, 1949, in Henry County, Mo., near Palo, the daughter of Wade Britton Peek and Rose Mary (Moon) Peek. On January 12, 1980, she married Edward King “Ed” Young in Calhoun, Mo., and he survives of the home. Barbara had worked as a nurse’s assistant and for the Salvation Army Store in Sedalia, Breaktime, Wal-Mart, and most recently Tyson. She enjoyed country music, going to thrift stores, and making scrapbooks of family pictures and memories. Her family was most important to her, and she did all she could to take care of them. In addition to her husband Ed, survivors include 3 daughters, Judy Young, Sedalia, Mo., Jolene Lacey (Tim), Cole Camp, Mo., and Joni Springer (Dillon), Sedalia, Mo.; a son, Wendell Howe Jr.; 5 grandchildren, Kyle Young, Ashley Young, Connor Springer, Carlee Springer, and Cannon Springer; 5 brothers, Willie Peek, Bobby Peek, Tommy Peek, and Archie Peek, all of Calhoun, Mo., and Charles Peek, Florida; a sister, Mary Young, LaGrange, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers, Benjamin Peek, Johnny Peek, Terry Peek, Walter Peek, and Wade Peek, Jr.; and a sister, Dolly Joslin. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial will be in Union-Williams Cemetery, Cole Camp, Mo. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, January 8, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in Barbara’s memory and contributions may be made in care of the funeral home.
