Obituary of Don Wagoner
Don E. Wagoner, 73, of Windsor, Missouri, died Sunday afternoon, January 9, 2022, at the Kansas City VA Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo. He was born August 5, 1948, in Fort Collins, Colorado, the son of Glenn Irven Wagoner and Marjorie Elizabeth (Higgins) Wagoner. On May 17, 1978, he married Donna Kaye Bothwell. They were the parents of two sons, Stephen and Kenneth. Don served in the United States Army during Vietnam as a combat medic. Following his military service, he managed several Commonwealth Theaters in the Fort Collins area. He worked as a celebrity driver for Cheyenne Frontier Days for several years and then as a bookkeeper for Shamrock Transportation in Fort Collins. He retired to the Windsor area but his love for the Denver Broncos stayed with him. He enjoyed bowling and games of Texas Hold ‘em and Mexican Train with family and friends. He liked to try new things, especially when cooking in the kitchen. He was proud of his military service and was a member of the American Legion. He had a good, full life and loved time spent with his family. Survivors include 2 sons, Stephen Szekeres-Wagoner (Bonnie), Windsor, Mo., and Kenneth Wagoner, Windsor, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Shadow Szekeres-Wagoner, Elizabatha Szekeres-Wagoner, Isabella Szekeres-Wagoner, Sky Ballinger, Esmerelda Szekeres-Wagoner, Gabriel Szekeres-Wagoner, Octavia Szekeres-Wagoner, Kristine Claiborne, Madison Wagoner, and CJ Wagoner; his best friend, Donna Powers, Windsor, Mo.; 2 sisters, Jackie Schwartz, Loveland, Colorado, and Judy Blackmore, Pueblo, Colorado; special family friend Rachael Sherrer; and his beloved dog Tinker. He was a special grandpa to Abby Powers. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, with Rev. Virginia Bothwell officiating. Military Honors will be observed. The family suggests contributions to funeral expenses in care of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
