Virginia (Mullins) Johnston, 64, of Warsaw, Missouri, died Monday afternoon, January 31, 2022, at her home in Warsaw. She was born August 24, 1957, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Harry Lee Mullins and Beatrice June (Scammahorn) Mullins. She married Merrill C. Drake Jr. on April 3, 1982, in Lee’s Summit, Mo., and they were the parents of a son, Merrill C. “Trace” Drake. After staying home to raise her son, Virginia worked at Price Cutter in Independence for several years. After moving to the Warsaw area, she worked as a waitress at Maxine’s Restaurant. She loved to be outdoors and enjoyed many long walks collecting rocks and arrowheads. She also enjoyed spending time in her garden and had a beautiful yard with flowers and a special rock garden. Survivors include a son, Trace Drake; 2 brothers, Harry Mullins (Joye), Sun City West, Arizona, and Danny Mullins (Sandy), Oak Grove, Mo.; a sister, Carolyn Edgar (Charles), Warsaw, Mo.; 2 grandchildren, Dallas Drake and Carter Drake; 3 nephews, Jeff Mullins, Toby Williams, and Brent Mullins; a niece, Dawn Swindell; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and companion for many years, Eric Kennedy. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
