Obituary of Roy Sherman Warren

Please share a memory of Roy Sherman to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roy Warren was born on June 3, 1938, son of William Sherman Warren and Maggie Croy Warren, south of Windsor at home. On December 12, 1959, at the home of Roy Pennell, he married Dorothy Sell who survives of the home. Roy attended Union School and high school as a Lincoln Cardinal and graduated in 1957. Roy worked for several farmers in the community bucking bales, filling silos and whatever work was available in the summers. Roy talked of the good meals prepared by the farm wives that he enjoyed. Roy went to work at the International Shoe Factory in Windsor, MO after high school, and credits Pete Houk with helping him to be employed at the shoe factory. Roy worked there until 1985 when the shoe factory closed. He then worked at Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster, MO as a painter. In August of 1985, Roy went to work at Eagle Bay Subdivision at the Lake of the Ozarks, doing maintenance until he retired in 2000. Roy wore many hats and was always available to help anyone that needed a helping hand. Roy and Don Dady stayed up some nights pushing debris and logs away from the Eagle Bay Dock when the water was high. He kept the grounds looking great for all the residents and weekenders alike. Roy was a daring guy and feared nothing. When no one wanted to climb high to do a job, Roy was right there and ready to go. Roy loved to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles, pitch horseshoes and bowling. He loved playing his guitar and banjo and could play anything by ear. Roy also loved golf and spent many hours on the golf course. Roy started playing golf at the Windsor Country Club in the early 70’s on the sand greens. He played the old Warsaw sand greens as well. Roy had memberships at the Shawnee Bend golf course in Warsaw, MO and Triple Creek golf course in Cole Camp, MO. Roy accomplished 4 holes-in-one in his lifetime. He played many different courses on vacation trips. He took any of the kids and grandkids fishing, hunting, and golfing that would go with him. He was patient and helped them bait the hook and get untangled while fishing. He showed much patience while they tried to hit the golf ball. Roy loved his family and loved being with all of them. Roy was a Christian and knew the Bible. His belief was you could be close to God on the bank of the river or under a shade tree in the yard. Roy had his own relationship with God. In addition to his wife Dorothy, survivors include daughters Pamela Warren, Sedalia, MO, Sandy Warren-Stuckey, Lincoln, MO, and Charlotte Ingle (Doug), Grand Prairie, TX; Grandchildren, Sean Rehmer (LariAnn), Blue Springs, MO, Colton Thomas (Sarah), Sedalia, MO, Grant Thomas (Ivan), Blue Springs, MO, Shayna Cross (Scott) and Savanah Boyd (Jon), both of Springfield, MO, and Spencer Ingle (Diana), Grand Prairie, TX; Great-grandchildren, Izayah and Aliyah Boyd, Adilynn Cross, Brody and Emerson Thomas, Ayla Rehmer, and Chloe Ingle (on the way); Sister, Lora Henderson, Farmington Hills, MI; Brother, Don Warren (Janet), Chino Valley, AZ; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Barbara Spencer, Sharon Cooper, Nick and Sondra Raper, Ralph and Mary Houk, Bob and Brenda Sell, Don and Judy Williams, Gary and Carol Sell, Ed and Ruth Sell, and Helen Sell; and several cousins and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Burial will be in the Tebo Cemetery, Leesville, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday evening, June 6, at the funeral home.
