Obituary of Coty Nicholson

Coty Nicholson, 32, of Windsor, Missouri, died Saturday, August 20, 2022, at his home in Windsor. He was born December 13, 1989, in Sedalia, Mo., the son of Michael Lee Nicholson and Stacia Renee (Evrard) Cardwell. Coty participated in all school sports and graduated from Windsor High School in 2008 and attended University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg following high school. He served in the United States Army from 2009 to 2011. He earned many commendations, including the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star for his service overseas as a sniper. During training to be an Army Ranger, Coty suffered a severe back injury as the result of a fall, ending his military service. He worked at Royal Oaks Hospital and then Midwest Metalcraft & Equipment, Inc., both in Windsor. He greatly enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, looking for arrowheads, and being in nature. He liked firearms, enjoyed drawing, and spent time forging iron and working with metal. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Windsor, and the American Legion Post 82, Windsor. Survivors include his mother, Stacia Cardwell, Windsor, Mo.; his father, Mike Nicholson (Marilyn), Dresden, Mo.; maternal grandmother, Karen Evrard Osborn, Windsor, Mo.; 8 brothers, Levi Keele, Windsor, Mo., Shae Childers, Warrensburg, Mo., Nathan Anderson, Hughesville, Mo., Jeremy Anderson, Columbia, Mo., Anthony Hedrick, Sedalia, Mo., Zachary Nicholson, Sedalia, Mo., Jacob Nicholson, Belton, Mo., and Walter Nicholson, Dresden, Mo.; a sister, Barbara Debates, Sedalia, Mo.; and several uncles, aunts, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his stepdad, Brian Cardwell, and his paternal grandparents, Gerald and Mary Nicholson. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family suggest contributions to help with funeral expenses and can be left in care of the funeral home.
