Irene Ray, 87, of Windsor, Missouri, died early Friday morning, September 23, 2022, at Windsor Healthcare & Rehabilitation, Windsor, Mo. She was born April 13, 1935, in Benton County, Mo., near Warsaw, the daughter of Oral Herman Nichols and Bessie Bernese (Reno) Nichols. On June 27, 1954, in Knob Noster, Missouri, she married Walter Boyd Ray and he preceded her in death on October 10, 2017. Irene worked at Parkhurst Manufacturing in Sedalia and the International Shoe Factory in Windsor. She also worked as a waitress and as a nurse aid at both Windsor and Lincoln nursing homes. She enjoyed sewing and was a talented woodworker and spent time crafting with wood. Survivors include 2 sons, Larry Ray and Ron Ray (Janet), both of Leeton, Mo.; a daughter, Carla Campbell (Bret), Windsor, Mo.; 5 grandchildren, Christina, Michelle, Kyle, Jennifer, and Amanda; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Walter, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Brenda Ray; a sister Ila Lucille Stull; a brother, Elvis Gorden “Bill” Nichols; and a great-granddaughter, Annie Lynn Davis. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2022, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family suggests contributions to the Hickory Point Cemetery, near Green Ridge, Mo., in care of the funeral home.
