Obituary of Clyde Hayhurst
Clyde D. Hayhurst, 78, of rural Leeton, Missouri, died Monday, February 28, 2005, at the Kansas University Medical Center, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born March 29, 1926, in Leesville, Mo., the son of James Isaac Hayhurst and Eliza Jane (Hunt) Hayhurst. On December 30, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo., he married Norma Jane Long, who preceded him in death, July 24, 1998. Mr. Hayhurst was a farmer. He also worked for the Civil Service at Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster, Mo., retiring as Deputy Chief of Operations. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Leeton, the Cold Spring Masonic Lodge, #274 at Leeton, and the Windsor VFW Post, #2610. Survivors include 2 daughters, Sandra Burford, Windsor, Mo., and Anita Bailey, Peculiar, Mo.; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Kay Hayhurst and 6 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be Friday, March 4, 1:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, Leeton, Mo., with Pastor Chris Johnston. Gayle M. Hadley, pianist, will play musical selections of "In The Garden," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art." Casket bearers will be Leland Fultz, Bob Houk, Marion Clear, Steve McMullin, Larry Wallace and Mike Underwood. Burial will be in the Mineral Creek Cemetery, Leeton, Mo. The family will receive friends before the service on Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Windsor FFA Cemetery Restoration Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, Mo.
