Obituary of Helen Zimmerman
Louise Zimmerman, 95, of Windsor, Missouri, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at the Windsor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, in Windsor, Mo. She was born, May 26, 1909, south of Windsor, Mo., in Henry County, the daughter of Reuben E. Burcham and Mary E. (Chipman) Burcham. On June 17, 1939, in Windsor, Mo., she married George H. Zimmerman, who preceded her in death on June 28, 2002. Mrs. Zimmerman grew up on the family farm south of Windsor, and attended Edgewood grade school and Windsor High School. She graduated from Central Methodist College, Fayette, Mo., and received her master's degree from the University of Missouri. She taught 4 years at Liberty, a country school west of Windsor; 2 years at Garden City, Mo.; a year at Pacific, Mo.; and 23 and half years at Windsor High School, retiring in 1975. During her teaching career at Windsor, she taught shorthand, Spanish, typing and bookkeeping and was an Honor Society Chapter sponsor. She was a member of the Henry County Chapter, DAR, the El Progressio Club and the Windsor United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Robert Zimmerman and his wife, Sue, St. Joseph, Mo.; and a granddaughter, Machelle Zimmerman, Portland, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Gladys Burnham. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 2, 2:00 p.m., at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, Mo., with Rev. Bruce Jeffries, officiating. Laura M. Fetters, organist, will play, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace." Casket bearers will be Larry Womble, Gary Womble, Ed Higgs, Bill Whitlow, Jim Burnham and Gene Simpson. Honorary bearers will be David Blinne and Jerry Hitt. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, The family will receive friends on Saturday, 1 hour before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Laurel Oak Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.
